T5 Non World Class ratio change

Question: I have a Camaro T5, serial number 1352-061.  It is NWC, for '84 V6 Camaro.I would like to change the 5th gear ratio from 0.78 to something lower.  0.72 or 0.68 would be great! I read the 5th gears for Chevys are interchangeable.  Is there a way for me to get the 0.72/0.68/0.63 5th gear ratio?  I understand it’s not a direct conversion but I don’t know the tooth-count to my 5th gear.

Answer: The 5th gear ratio is 50% determined by the input and cluster in the unit and the other 50% by the actual tooth count and diameter of the 5th gear set. Unfortunately, there isn’t a for sure way to know what 5th gear you have without getting tooth counts and diameters of both 5th gears. There may be something available but in order to go lower geared you would need to go closer to 1 to 1 so like a .85. You can see the other units and parts we can provide at www.midwesttrans.com
