You may find the paper identification tag on the top cover of the transmission case. Tag will include the manufactures information. Supplying this tag information when ordering a replacement transmission or transmission parts is helpful. The NV4500 was used by General Motors starting in 1992 and Dodge started using this five speed in 1994. Cryogenic treated shafts and gears will add 30% more strength to those transmission parts
Upgraded main shaft with increased rear spline length by 1 inch and utilizes a retaining clip will guarantee 100% sure fix to this premature failure mode, i.e. 5th gear backing off the shaft. Compare OE main shaft with updated main shaft. This is typically caused by lugging the transmission through stop light changes, we always recommend shifting down when coming to a stop
light that might change green.
Upgrade extension housing from aluminum to stronger cast iron unit
Need to change your clutch? Now may be a good time to upgrade both clutch and transmission input to increase performance. Upgrade input shaft from 1 1/4″ to 1 3/8″ for increased strength kit includes input retainer, input shaft, input bearing and seal.
