Transfer Cases are tested before leaving the factory. This transfer case was manufactured by New Process. This model is a chain driven, The output is on the driver-side with center rear output. The NP247 was used in Jeeps. This unit has been utilized in Grand Cherokee 1998 and later.

The NP247 was manufactured by New Venture Gear with manual shift, it is a full-time, 23 spline front input with fixed front yoke has either 4WD full-time, neutral and low 4WD.

This unit has a couple of problems, it utilizes a viscous coupler clutch system that can fail. It’s important to keep the fluid fresh for smooth operation. Recommended fluid is Mopar 247 fluid with added limited slip additive.
