The MP3023LD is provided in a light duty version you can find this transfer case behind the warranty 2 years 4L60E transmission with 27 Spline input and 32 Spline output, also located behind the new hybrid 2ML70 automatic transmission with 32 Spline input and 32 Spline output. This is a three planetary design, with a 1.25 inch chain designed for 1/2 ton models. This transfer case is electronic shifted, clutch drive, two speed with 2wd, Auto, 4HI, 4Lo, and Neutral rated at 737-885 ft./lbs. torque
Potential problems with the MP3023LD Transfer Case
This unit can have issues with case failure caused by out of balance rear driveshafts, at the first sign of vibration it is time to get the driveline inspected, repaired and high speed balanced before case failure. High mileage will contribute to failure of the range hub, range fork and input shaft, this failure is exhibited by the unit popping out of gear. Be sure that at each oil change you check the fluid level in the MP3023LD. Recommended fluid for the MP3023LD transfer case is Dextron ATF.
