Tacoma will not Shift?

I have a Tacoma 1998 2.7Lt, 4WD.Questions:  My transmission is stuck in 1st gear but the shift lever is in the neutral position. It drives in 1st gear and feels smooth, but can't be shifted. I have replaced the shift lever bushing and seat, and also the clutch master and slave. Today I pulled the trans and the shift lever still won't budge. What can be the possible cause and solution?Answer:  The factory technical Rep thinks that some how the shifter lug internal got shifted into low gear and because of a worn shifter seat (bushing) allowed the stub to remain in the (N) position. If you look at an angle towards the right front corner of the shifter opening and look down in the transmission you will see 3 shift gates  furthest to the right is the ½ rail. This rail would need to be pried forward into the (N) position because right now being in gear it has engaged all of the interlocks and will not allow you to shift another gear.If this is unsuccessful the tail housing would need to be removed to get it back into (N).If you need additional assistance or parts give Scott a call 888-824-2012 he can help you. You can see the other parts we can provide for the Toyota W series transmissions on our site.
