Jeep Wrangler TJ 1998 5th Gear Problem
I have an Jeep Wrangler TJ 1998 4WD
Question: My AX5 5th gear when out and I am currently in the process of ordering parts. The problem I am running into if finding the retaining clips. On your AX5 diagram, one of them is part 37. The other isn't labeled and to the right of part 35. I acquired part numbers but they lead me to snap rings which don't look anything like what I need which looks like a "C". Can you provide any clarity on what those two C rings' proper nomenclature and parts number is? Also, do you stock them or where can I purchase them. They are not available from the Jeep dealership.Answer:To the right hand side of # 35 is a snap ring that would not be used in an AX5… # 37 is the retaining ring for the AX5 Main shaft 5th gear. If it #37- you need order our part number MWT 83500587 your cost is $2.50 plus S&H.If you need something different please email us a picture from you phone. You can see the other parts that we can supply for the AX5 on our site.
