GM NV3500 5 Speed Input Shaft Problem

nv3500

I have a GMC 1994 1/2 ton 2WD with the 305.

Question:  I just traded for an NV3500 5 speed transmission. It has a clunk in all gears in the same spot of rotation. I believe that it is due to a broken tooth on the input gear. Can you confirm is dispute this for me? And if so, what would be the best fix for this?

Answer:   Sounds like you have diagnosed it correctly. We would suggest taking it apart and verifying that is the only issue.
There is some good news:   with care and the bell off the cluster gear and input can be spread with pry bars and the input replaced without taking the rest of the gear train out of the tail section.  The part required to fix the problem is :  Input Shaft part number MWTNV18125R your cost is $82.09 plus S&H.   You will probably will want to order an input bearing and seal as well.Give Scott a call toll free 888-824-2012 he can help you
